How do you pull off an interview with a Japanese band if.
1 – They don’t speak any English.
2 – There’s no translator to help you out
3 – The only Japanese word that you know is “Nintendo”?
Well, you get a pen, a piece of paper and better be good at Pictionary. The fact is that even despite the deep pictural conversation we had, we don’t know much about Nisennenmondai. The name of the band means literally “Y2K” and they come from Tokyo. For almost a decade, these three tiny girls have been Japan’s best-kept secret. Right after the drummer’s skills, the most impressive thing about this band is the gap between their powerful sound and their shyness. Women of few words, they didn’t talk much but, hey, at least they loved our drawings.
Don’t miss the epic performance of Ikkyokume shot at Mix-Up Festival in Beauvais, France. All you have to do is to click “Bonus” in the player and enjoy.
